Wakefield Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast to Raise Money for Children Injured in the Haiti Earthquake

The Wakefield Rotary club of Wake Forest is hosting a pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 24, from 8 am – 10 am at Applebee’s, 11805 Retail Drive in Wake Forest. Tickets are $7 per person with proceeds going toward the club’s service project to provide prostheses for children who were injured in the Haiti earthquake. Tickets may be purchased from any Wakefield Rotary club member or by contacting Matt Robinson at mrobinson@NorthStateBank.com or (919) 645-4981.

Second Annual “Great Grass Giveaway”
Saturday, April 24; 8 am – Noon
Public Works Operations Center, 234 Friendship Chapel Road
The Town of Wake Forest’s Second Annual “Great Grass Giveaway” is set for Saturday, April 24 at the Public Works Operations Center, 234 Friendship Chapel Road, from 8 am until noon – or until the supply of Bermuda grass seed is exhausted. If you live inside Wake Forest’s corporate limits and you’re willing to convert your lawn from Fescue to Bermuda grass then you’re eligible to participate. Simply visit the Operations Center on April 24 between 8 am and noon. After providing your address and the size of your lot, you’ll receive enough grass seed to cover up to 8,000 square-feet of lawn. American Cancer Society’s Bark for Life – A Canine Event to Fight Cancer
Saturday, April 24; 9 am – 1 pm
Heritage Trade Drive, Wake Forest
The Myrtle Magnum Family and Friends Relay For Life Team is hosting the first Bark For Life event to be held in the Wake Forest/Rolesville area on Saturday, April 24 from 9 am until 1 pm. This event will be at Heritage Trade Drive in Wake Forest. Advance registrations will be $20 per person with one dog and up to two additional dogs at $5 each. Teams and individuals can register in advance at the North Raleigh/Wake Forest Relay For Life website at http://www.wakeforestrelay.com. Print out and mail in a completed registration form before April 10 to North Wake County Bark for Life, c/o sandi.barham@att.net, 3579 NC 98 Hwy. West, Youngsville, NC 27596. Checks should be made payable to ACS (The American Cancer Society). For more information, email sandi.barham@att.net or call (919) 554-4711. Registration at the event will be $25 per dog/owner team. Only the first 20 mailed registrations received by April 10 will be guaranteed an event packet that includes a T-shirt and bandana, plus much more. Activities will include contests, opportunity drawings, games, pet products vendors and information tables for the Relay for Life event on May 15, luminaries, pet luminaries, the American Cancer Society and much more! The Wake Forest Youth Advisory Board is sponsoring a free “Concert in the Park” for all area high school students and their families on Saturday, April 24, fom 3 pm to 5 pm at the E. Carroll Joyner Park Amphitheater. 6 Sundays in Spring Concert Series Begins – featuring the Milagro Saints

E. Carroll Joyner Park Amphitheater, 701 Harris Road
Bring the kids, friends, a picnic, and a blanket! Sponsored by the Wake Forest Cultural Arts Association, the Six Sundays in Spring concert series will be held this year on consecutive Sundays from April 25 through May 30. The new home for 6 Sundays is the E. Carroll Joyner Park Amphitheater, located at 701 Harris Road. The free concerts begin at 5 pm and last approximately two hours. Snacks and refreshments are available. Come join your friends and neighbors and make this year’s Six Sundays in Spring your best Sundays of the year!
