She has been strongly drawn to the diversity and intricacies of light and shadow as well as the textures and subtleties that can be found in a black and white image. Art Opening at Sunflower Studio & Gallery featuring Robbin Richardson and Mary Helen Jones
Friday, July 9 thru Saturday, Aug 7
Sunflower Studio & Gallery, 214 E. Jones Ave.
Robbin lives in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico three months out of the year. This lush landscape on the Pacific Coast has been her second home for many years. As she returns to paint her canvases, the vibrant acrylic colors and inspirations are easily seen. Her style is free and very loose, what some would mainly call abstract impressionism. Her show “Visions and Vibes from Vallarta” will be the body of work inspired by her surroundings and experiences of this past winter in Mexico. The past owner of a catering business and restaurant, Mary Helen Jones creates hand built and wheel thrown stoneware. Creating pottery had been on “Mary’s “bucket” list”, but the opportunity did not present itself until a few years ago when she took a class and was smitten from the start. Since food is in her background, most of her pieces are functional and adapted for using with food.
